If you’re thinking about a trip to the Baltic countries, be sure to check out the ready-made Off-road trails Lithuania Latvia Estonia that you can drive at any time! I have developed them in the Offroad Guide, which includes GPS navigation files, a detailed road description, and basic rules for tourists.

It’s a proven recipe for an unforgettable adventure! Dozens of crews have already used it. You can buy it and receive it within a few moments!

Is it even worth going there?

I honestly warn you that you will not find great off-road challenges, hot sun, warm sea, or mountain views there. The Baltic countries are flat, the roads are straight, and there are only a few days a year with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius.

However, these are definitely countries worth visiting. The main attractions are vast uninhabited areas, stunning forests, picturesque and fish-filled lakes, and charming, wild beaches on the Baltic Sea.

Tourists will find plenty of legal wild camping spots and well-maintained campsites where they can fully relax, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and tranquility.

There are also many top-class monuments and tourist attractions in the cities and towns. The openness and hospitality of the people are common. Additionally, the cuisine is tasty and hearty, and the prices are reasonable.

Attractions of the Off-road Trails Lithuania Latvia Estonia:

The offered route is 2652 km long. It forms a loop starting and ending in the Suwałki region in Poland. It is divided into 14 daily stages. Each stage starts and ends in places recommended for overnight stays based on your own equipment. These are mostly free, legal camping sites and clean campsites, beautifully located by rivers, lakes, or on beaches by the Baltic Sea.

The length of the stages is chosen so that you do not spend more than six hours a day in the car, leaving plenty of time for rest. The plan includes sightseeing tourist attractions, shopping, refueling, and meals in restaurants, as discovering local cuisine and drinks is also an important part of traveling.

The route includes, among others:

  • LITHUANIA: Kaunas, Vilnius, Trakai Castle, Zatrocze Palace, Curonian Spit, Nemunas Delta National Park, Druskininkai resort, Klaipėda, Rumsiskes Open-Air Museum, Visaginas (nuclear power plant).
  • LATVIA: Riga, Daugavpils Fortress, beaches near Jurmala, Sigulda, Gauja National Park, Turaida Castle, ruins in Krimulda.
  • ESTONIA: Coastline, one of the 1500 Estonian islands, the longest ford in Europe, Lahemaa National Park, Tartu, Tallinn.

The routes are designed for factory off-road vehicles. Stages can be combined, shortened, or skipped!

A unique attraction for off-road enthusiasts is the longest ford in Europe. It is over five kilometers long and provides access along the bottom of the Baltic Sea to one of the Estonian islets.

The package consists of a PDF file for printing and KML and GPX files for GPS.

What will you find in the PDF file?

In the general information section, I present the requirements for travelers in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. You will learn about the necessary equipment and the documents you need for the vehicle and crew members. You will learn the rules for road tolls, how and where to pay them. Emergency phone numbers are also provided.

You will also find an invitation to participate in the Never Ending Rally.

Never-Ending Rally

Join the largest amateur off-road car competition in Europe. The winner is the crew that completes the most of our routes. You can ride whenever you want! More information is available on this website.

In the detailed descriptions of each stage, I inform you about their length, road conditions and difficulty, applicable or potential restrictions, and hazards. I present the attractions to visit, suggest where to shop, eat, or refuel. I also indicate places to stay overnight.

How to use GPS navigation files?

You can use GPX files on GARMIN devices. However, I recommend using KML files and the free and very simple MAPS.ME application. It works works online and offline on smartphones, tablets, etc. with Android and iOS systems.

Start by installing this application on your device. Then simply send the KML files by email to the mailbox on the device with MAPS.ME and open them. Android immediately installs the route and it is visible on the screen. The system for Apple mobile devices (iOS) requires opening the file (an incomprehensible text will appear) and clicking on the “share” icon in the upper right corner. On the displayed list, select the Maps.Me program.

The MAPS.ME application is compatible with CarPlay and Android Auto. This means that if you connect your phone to a car radio with a display that supports these systems, your route will also be visible on the car screen.

You will receive detailed instructions in an email after purchase, along with a link to download the files. I provide assistance if needed.
